NAVTEQ Selected to Power Location-Based Application, GyPSii
Linking Location Data with Mobile and User Generated Content


Barcelona, Spain – February 12, 2008 – NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has been selected to provide digital map data to GyPSii, the ground-breaking geo-location and social networking application for mobile phones and Internet devices.  GyPSii is a user-generated content, social networking, search and location-based suite of integrated mobile and web applications. The GyPSii application will utilise NAVTEQ worldwide data coverage in Europe, North America and Emerging Markets. 

GyPSii provides mobile and internet users the ability to generate and store content such as photos, video, audio and text, and associate location context around that content, creating “a Place”.  Users can share their “Places,” identified on a map, in real-time with friends, relatives and colleagues, and communities, creating a vast repository of comments, ratings, and maps of all “Places” that other GyPSii users can search based on location proximity.

GyPSii runs on Symbian S60 phones, Windows Mobile devices & Blackberry smartphones. Accredited on Nokia 6110, N95 and Windows Mobile platforms. GyPSii provides extended language support for users in no less than ten different languages - US English, UK English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
